The Ancient Tea Tree Adoption Protection Activity in Menghai County, Yunnan Province

China is the hometown of tea, yunnan is the origin of the world tea tree. As early as 2100 years ago, Yunnan has carried out the artificial domestication of wild tea tree planting. Pu ‘er tea made from the leaves of ancient tea has a unique effect, whether from ecological pollution-free or health and fitness treatment, It also has extremely high collection value. These precious natural cultural heritage is recognized as a scarce resource in the world.

In order to truly protect and make good use of the ancient tea tree resources rationally, to properly handle the relationship between protection and development, Yunnan Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture promulgated Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture Ancient Tea Tree Protection Terms on August 1, 2011.  In order to implement the ancient tea tree protection, Menghai Tea Industry Association organized the tea industry professional cooperatives and tea enterprises of related departments, established the Menghai Ancient Tea Tree Adoption Protection Working Committee, implement the first national Menghai Ancient Tea Tree Adoption Protection Activity Measures. Relying on the China pu ‘er tea information network, officially launched “Menghai County ancient tea tree adoption protection activities in nationwide.”

World tea king, global adoption

Menghai County ancient tea tree adoption protection activities is a social natianwide welfare activity which was organized by Menghai Ancient Tea Tree Adoption Protection Working Committee. The aim is to publicize the importance and urgency of the protection of Yunnan ancient tea tree as a global unique resource.

“The adoption activities” carried out and implemented according to the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture Ancient Tea Tree Protection Terms. There are about 1000 “tea king level” ancient tea trees in the selected Menghai County, which are used as the adoptive objects for rational utilization and scientific maintenance according to the Menghai Ancient Tea Tree Adoption Protection Activity Measures.

In order to let ancient tea tree protection deeply popular and put protection work and the measures into practice, now we are looking for the adoption cooperation department of the “tea king tree” in China‘s large and medium-sized cities. The aim is to combine the advantages of the two sides, and to combine the interests of the units and the the power of love, to carry out the protection activities of the ancient tea trees, so that more tea lovers can understand the “ultimate character” of the tea king tree.

Each province (municipality) selects 5-10 departments, and the cooperative unit enjoys the lifelong honor of “Yunnan ancient tea tree protection unit”, which will directly promote the social public welfare image of the cooperative unit. At present, the product of the “ultimate character” series, which is made from “Individual pickingh, Individual production, Individual storage”, has become a standard of high-end pu ‘er tea. In the later stage, the series of products, whether tasting or collecting, are of high value and have great market development space.
